Sunday - 01 February 2015 - Super Bowl Sunday on the Statendam

Enroute to Cartegena while Watching the Super Bowl -- Go Pats!

 Today is Super Bowl Sunday and the Statendam is ready.  The viewing choices include the main party with a buffet in the Showroom at Sea, the Mix Bar on deck 8 and of course all stateroom TV's will be showing the game. 

Phil and I have been invited to a cocktail party today from 5:30 to 6:30 -- the invitation was delivered to our stateroom with no mention of the host.  We think it is American Express since they are taking us on an excursion in Costa Rica.

During the day a Virtual Tour of the Panama Canal by Wallis, our Location Guide is enjoyable.   Later in the day Wallis gives a presentation about the history and practical information on Cartagena, Colombia where we will stop tomorrow.  This is especially helpful for those of us not taking a formal tour.   

At 5:30 -- Phil and I arrive at the Explorer's Lounge for the cocktail party -- American Express is our host.  Joyce and her husband, Rob, are their representatives.  Apparently there is an American Express Mariners Club based on the travel agent not the card.   We have a nice visit with a few other passengers --- and all 26 of us on board the Statendam have been invited on an excursion in Costa Rica.  Phil and I excuse ourselves a few minutes early to get to a viewing spot to see the Super Bowl kick-off. 

We stay at the Mix Bar until about half time when I go up to Lido get some food to bring back to the room -- Phil goes to the Showroom at Sea.  Phil's comes back to the room where we watch the rest of game -- and what a game it was.   The Pat's won and that is the important thing for us.

Another good day on board the Statendam.
